One Test Cycle from Extinction: Testing Debt

Many of us know the phrase "…Like a Thief in the Night…" from its biblical roots and foundation. In some quality and testing circles, Testing Debt has been described as this thief. It moves swiftly and secretively, surreptitiously robbing and stealing an organization's quality, testing innovations and assets. The results are typically experienced in the lack of testing coverage, misunderstanding of the product requirements, defect leakage or outages in production environments, and a diminished customer experience.

Though they have not been adequately addressed over time, these issues are well-known. The question is, as quality and testing professionals, how do we create a balance to maintain an appropriate test-debt quotient to improve the results experienced with testing debt?

In this presentation, Alvin Sumter will seek to give an overview about Testing Debt and its origins, show how it diminishes the quality and testing return on investment (ROI), and discuss how to move from creating testing debt to building Test Wealth
